Why are the prices of flowers so high at Valentines?
Imagine you agree to bake 25 cupcakes for
your child’s classroom to be delivered on Feb 14. Easy peasy!
Then imagine the school asks you to bake cupcakes, for the same day, for
the entire school population plus faculty and even the parent volunteers – a
new total of 1000 cupcakes. All for Feb
14! To take this on, you would need to
do some serious planning, buy additional supplies, find more ovens, more icing
(my favourite part) and find additional man-power to get the project complete.
That’s growing roses for Valentines. Around the world, the rose farmers need to
plan, plant, care for, and finally harvest a crazy ton of roses for One.
Single. Day! And as always, the
additional costs incurred are passed down the lines.
The flower shops are not usually making any
more money since they too are paying extra to get those sought after
roses.
At Panda Flowers, we understand the supply
and demand of this annual cycle. We’re
